NFC Future Odds | 2011 NFC Picks
With some cautious optimism that the NFL owners and players will be able to resolve their differences in time to save the 2011 regular season, I took a look at the current odds to win the NFC to try and determine which team will represent the conference in Super Bowl XLVI, scheduled for early February of next year.
While most people will simply call me a homer, I honestly believe that it is the Eagles' turn to get back to the title game. The following is a link to my entire preview as originally posted on Cappers Picks which explains my rational for making this call.

NFL's Top 100 Players of 2011
The NFL Network is more than halfway through revealing their list of 'The Top 100 NFL players of 2011' as part of a 10-part series that covers 10 players at a time.
Starting from No.100, the first Eagle on the list at No.73 is DE Trent Cole. He has been with the Birds his entire six-year career after getting drafted in 2005 in the fifth round out of Cincinnati. Cole has 57 career sacks including a team-high 12 1/2 in 2009 and 10 last season. These numbers are especially impressive given the fact that he is Philadelphia's only legitimate pass rusher on the defensive line.
The only other Eagle in the first 60 players chosen is CB Asante Samuel; coming in at No. 54 on the list. He is an eight-year veteran who began his career in New England in 2003. Samuel came to the Eagles in 2008 as an unrestricted free-agent and immediately helped to improve a defensive secondary that was lacking a true playmaker at the cornerback position. The rap on Samuel over the years has been his inability to effectively play the run, but his 42 career interceptions with five returned for touchdowns help justify the lofty ranking.

Plaxico Burress an Eagle?
There is very little going on in the NFL lately with the ongoing labor situation so the only things making news are all the rumors surrounding where some prominent veteran free-agents may end up once this whole mess is finally resolved.
One rumor circulating this week is that former New York Giant wide receiver Plaxico Burress has expressed an interest in playing for the Eagles once he is released from prison and presumably reinstated into the NFL. Burress is scheduled to be released this Monday after serving close to two years for a gun possession charge stemming from an incident at a New York nightclub in November of 2008.
This rumor may actually have some traction given the fact how Philadelphia was willing to take a chance on Michael Vick, after his stint in prison on dog fighting charges. The other connection is that both players are from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and have struck up a friendship over the years. Vick has already publically stated that he believes Burress would be a good addition to the team.
The big question that remains is are the Eagles interested in him? Nothing has been or can be addressed given the current player lockout, but you have to believe that the prospect of adding Burress to a receiving corps that already has DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, and Brent Celek would have any head coach licking his chops.
Burress certainly brings a ton of baggage along with him and the memory of the whole T.O. mess still lingers, but do not be surprised if Andy Reid decides to open his halfway house one more time for a fallen star.
